Worlds Apart, a pop-up project on homelessness, was the highlight of our Summer 2016 session. Working day and night over a four-day period, 55 Year 1 students and 15 Year 2 students reported, designed and created a website with more than two dozen original stories, photo galleries and videos, plus logos, graphics and maps. Team leaders Casey Miller, Jordan Tichenor and Taylor Blatchford led the effort. Find their work here.
Featured photo: Memphis, 66, has been moving around Union Square Park since February, asking for money, food, or a kind word from the people that pass by him on a daily basis. The Vietnam War veteran, who goes by one name only, said he “got messed up” after his wallet, containing his money, identification cards, and Social Security information, was stolen. He said homelessness can be solved if San Francisco creates affordable housing and if people treat the homeless with respect.
