NBTB students took on an extraordinary challenge last summer, creating a digital interactive and print magazine called 650 West. The magazine — which students envisioned as “a Newsroom by the Bay New Yorker” — includes reportage, photography, first-person essays and illustrations. But because it was produced as an interactive as well as a print magazine, it also includes slideshows, videos, audio files and animations (catch those sparkling stars on the story about Sally Ride, the namesake of our summer dorm and America’s first female and LGBTQ astronaut). Combining both inspiration and perspiration, 650 West shows NBTB students at their best, saying “yes, and” instead of “no, but” — and making things happen. Find 650 West online and in print.
