Meet the teachers: Eric Burse, iPad video and media law
We’re resisting the urge to say that he’s back … but he is. And we couldn’t be happier.
Eric Burse, one of our most popular instructors, will return for a fourth year at Newsroom by the Bay this summer to teach iPad video and a new seminar on media law. A law student at the University of Kentucky, Burse earned a Master of Arts degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
Burse did his undergraduate work at the Annenberg School of Communications & Journalism at the University of Southern California, where he interned for NBC Network News, gaining experience with Nightly News, CNBC, the TODAY Show and Nightline.
In 2012, the National Association of Black Journalists honored Burse as student journalist of the year.
Most recently, he was engagement editor at Gannett’s Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky (click here or below to learn more). He also served last summer as a law clerk with the Federal Communications Commission in Washington.
In a year that’s seen legal battles over immigration, Muslim travel bans, Syrian refugees and a Supreme Court pick, we look forward to Burse’s growing expertise in navigating the intersection of journalism and the law.
Stay tuned for introductions to our other faculty for summer 2017.
